With the help of model case studies the helpful, healing and preventative effect of an active association with jazz can be demonstrated. An essential basis is the role that certain music styles or artists play in the life of a person. This is investigated using a specific case history. In addition , through the investigation of particular rhythmic melodic harmonic and tonal criteria (and this above all through involvement in the neurological rehabilitation of stroke patients) which unfolds a therapeutic and preventative effect through restoring the will to be active and relaxation. The systematic analysis of this effect takes place on seven levels: 1. Object analysis. 2. Subject analysis of the recipient. 3. Communicative analysis of the object-subject relationship. 4. Interactive analysis of the music maker and listener. 5. Intentional analysis of the aim of an active association with jazz i. e. the will to be active, motivation, relaxation and coordination (harmonization). 6. Strategic analysis of the factors and methods leading to the aim. 7. Analysis of Jazz's effect through measuring physiological reactions i. e. polygraph measurements ECG, EEG and EMG or by observing behavioral reactions. The results of the prophylactic effects of jazz can be put onto the following summary: 1. Prevention of heart attacks and strokes. 2. Improvement in the general capacity of oxygen uptake and therefore functional ca-pacity of the inner organs. 3. Dropping of blood pressure also the resting and pulse under exertion. 4. Regulation of blood fat and cholesterine levels. 5. A positive effect on blood sugar levels. 6. Body weight is optimized through reduction in body fat. 7.
