Unbekannte Drucke und Handschriften mit Instrumentalmusik

The private collection of the author includes two hitherto unknown printings by Christoph Wagenseil, as well as five partially hitherto unknown Parisian printed parts containing, respectively, six Trios for two violins and cello, from the period 1770-1774. They are considered as belonging to the species of dialogue trios, which came out of the Parisian trio sonata shortly after 1750. Biographic details of the composer can be complemented and based upon indications appearing on the title pages. A further resource includes mainly handwritten manuscripts of the parts of 4-voice instrumental works. They are mostly labelled as Sinfonia. The birthdates of the oldest composers, such as Chelleri, Hasse and Zach are dated as just prior to 1700. Those of the youngest are dated before 1750. Mention is also made of a collection of seven handwritten harmonium pieces, each called "Partia," from around 1800. The composers of these are Carl Kreith (around 1746-1803) whom Wolfgang Suppan brought to the attention of the Congress of the International Society for the Study of Wind Music (Feldkirch 1992), and the unidentified Spieler. The latter is seemingly identical with Joseph Spiller, as he is called in Eitners Quellenlexikon.
