The present investigation, "Peter Herbolzheimer Rhythm Combination & Brass. Entwicklungstendenzen im Jazzrock 1970 bis '77" (Rhythm & Brass development tendencies in Jazzrock 1970–77), a contribution to the composer, bandleader and trombonist, is outlined here, and connected to the existing knowledge of the jazz style of the 70's. It deals with Herbolzheimers works, which were conceived for his own band, "Rhythm Combination & Brass" during the specific creative time period of 1970 to 1977. The most important characteristics of Peter Herbolzheimer's personal style are shown through two examples chosen from his repertoire. All of his other works and their, in part, changed parameters of musical creation flow together into a general investigation. The realizations gained from the analyses are herewith as well as complemented.
The investigation is made complete through a detailed biographical section which is largely related through personal information from Herbolzheimer.
